Neumühle Press Release 08.05.19: Net-Swimwear "VON ALICE"

Swiss swimwear made from fishing nets

The Zurich-based label Neumühle presents its latest collection: consistently sustainably produced swimwear made from lost fishing nets. Designed in Zurich, manufactured in Lugano. The launch is taking place via Kickstarter, where the pieces can be pre-ordered until Saturday, April 11, 2019.

"Used fishing nets account for 30 to 50 percent of waste in the ocean."- According to a WWF report

What can we do about this waste? Founders Edith and Andreas Fehr asked themselves this question when developing the "VON ALICE" net-swimwear collection. It is made from regenerated fishing nets and nylon scraps. The nets are collected worldwide, cleaned, and processed into nylon yarn, so-called ECONYL®.

The net-swimwear is produced by Alice in Switzerland. She has been running her business near Lugano since 1990. The tailoring studio produces the pieces by hand, locally in Ticino.

The design of the net-suit "VERZASCA" and the net-shorts "MAGGIA" is minimalist and timeless. The focus is on functionality and long-term wearability.

Thanks to this sustainable production method, resources are used sparingly and waste in the ocean is reduced.
